The Privatix Live System is a portable system for installing Debian in which private data are encrypted. A few weeks ago, the Ubuntu Privacy Remix released a USB stick installable system, private and sensitive data is securely. Markus Mandalka now has a comparable system based on Debian GNU / Linux.

The “Privatix” system can be called as a live CD, for example, anonymous surfing via Gate or the repair of a system using the included encryption tools allows. With the CD is, however, according to the author, even without a fully encrypted hard Debian system on a USB stick or an external hard drive to install the PC or on other than isolated environment for keeping and processing senisbler data for online banking, for intranet access or encrypted communications can be used.
Since the entire operating system and all applications to run from the USB stick be loaded on each PC used neither space nor a specific installation or operating systems or programs. The data on the PC itself can be used, but private data and settings, such as Documents, e-mails or PGP key to the encrypted USB stick is stored, where they are protected by a password-protected.
The established system is a largely normal Debian 5.0 and should be easy to expand and update security updates. While the final version of Privatix until after the release of Debian 5.0 “Lenny” will be, we can now already the beta version of the download page to download the project.
More info about Privatix can be found on Mandalika.
